Additional Highlights
End-User Awareness Forum
Public sector officers in Singapore are required to handle sensitive information in electronic form regularly. Determined adversaries will always be keen in getting hold of this information or causing some form of disruption to the targeted individuals/organisations. In many cases, attacks continue to be successful due to a combination of not having the right security tools, poor security practices and more importantly the lack of awareness.
As part of GovernmentWare 2011, the End-User Awareness Forum aims to educate participants about the importance of information security and the critical role that they play as an end-user. The Forum will apprise the audience of the latest evolving threats that they are facing and provide an insight on the security measures and best practices that can be undertaken to mitigate the potential threats.
IHL Participation (New)
The future of IT security inevitably lies in the hands of the next generation. It is the young guns that would carry the IT security industry in Singapore to greater heights. Hence, it is of great importance to ensure that the knowledge and skill-sets are passed on to the next generation, and necessary exposures are provided for them to better understand and appreciate the concerns and directions which the industry is heading towards.
Tertiary students have been invited to participate in this year's GovernmentWare. Besides attending the seminars, they would be showcasing their exhibits and be participating in the Singapore Cyber Conquest, a capture-the-flag competition. Through these activities, students would have a common platform to interact with IT security professionals and this sets the stage to catalyse ideas and growth in the IT security industry.
Singapore Cyber Conquest 2011
GovernmentWare's premier competition, Sinapore Cyber Conquest, which is open to all tertiary students, is back by popular demand. This year's competition is bigger and is out to challenge the limits of the participating contestants. Featuring an 'enterprise' network in which contestants will have the opportunity to test and pit their 'hacking' skills against fellow contestants.
Through this series of challenges, contestants will be able to gauge their skills and at the same time, be exposed to the exciting world of IT Security.
