The Reverse Path Forward: How I Moved from Offense, to Defense to the Vendor Side

21 Oct 2025
Level 3, Room GW2 | Sands Expo and Convention Centre
Re-charting the CISO and Head of Security Footprint
In a world where security teams are overloaded and the average tenure of a CISO is 18 to 26 months we need to think of creative ways to handle the quickly changing cybersecurity landscape.
Reverse-path forwarding (RPF) is a technique used in routers for efficient forwarding of multicast packets. By looking at how to route a packet to its source rather than its destination, we can find efficient ways to handle multicast routing; Similarly, looking at the offensive side of security can help us find more efficient ways to handle our defense.
In this talk, I will discuss what I learnt from years of offensive cybersecurity, and then as a CTO leading the cyber defense strategy of a major governmental agency. I'll also look at how struggling to position cyber issues to top executives and fighting with limitations in technologies and human resources eventually drove me to start my own company to solve many of the pain points I experienced.
