Privacy Enhancing Technologies enable governments to leverage AI and data science while implementing meaningful privacy protections. Techniques such as differential privacy, secure multi-party computation, and federated learning support data sharing for public services, policy research, and cross-border collaboration with strong privacy guarantees. In this talk, I'll showcase the current state of PETs through real-world deployment examples, and identify the technical and policy advances needed to enhance their deployability as AI and big data become increasingly central to governance.
