A Relook of Identity and Data as Key Underpinnings of Cybersecurity
In today’s borderless digital environment, documents are both vital assets and high-risk liabilities. Once shared, most files lose all control, visibility, and protection, making them prime targets for data leaks, insider misuse, and unauthorised redistribution. Emerging AI technologies now amplify these risks, enabling deepfake document generation, automated data extraction, and highly targeted social engineering. This session examines the evolving threat landscape surrounding document security, the limitations of legacy defences such as DLP and DRM, and modern approaches to embedding persistent protection, identity verification, and usage governance directly within the document itself.
