GovWare Conference 2021

GovWare Conference and Exhibition was planned to return in 2021 as an in-person event complemented with digital components for the Conference to enable remote access. Due to COVID-19 developments in Singapore weeks leading up to the event, we had to take the difficult decision to postpone our much anticipated in-person event.

Recognising our community’s need for timely insights and respecting the effort and expertise of our speakers, we decided to present an exclusive digital broadcast of the GovWare Conference, alongside Singapore International Cyber Week 2021.

With the support of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and community partners across the region, GovWare 2021 presented a stellar line-up of programmes as we addressed the year’s theme "Living with COVID-19 - Reimagining Digital Security Risks and Opportunities”.

  • GovWare has been an important element of the Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) since 2016. Today, the world is living in an age of rapid digitalisation, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, we have to grapple with the attendant downsides of digitalisation: increasingly frequent and complex cyber risks and threats posed by cyber threat actors. We are heartened that GovWare continues to share our vision of fostering crucial conversations among stakeholders to address these challenges and pursue innovations to capitalise on the new opportunities brought about by digitalisation.

There are speakers from around the globe [...] and you are going to see common threats, commonalities between all the challenges that we are addressing. So the Conference gives you a sense of camaraderie. We have to work together. We have to, on a global basis, address the security challenges that we all have. GovWare x ICE71 Startup Pitch Pit - Startup vs SMEs

The third edition of the GovWare x ICE71 Startup Pitch Pit featured exciting companies from the ICE71 Community as they pitched their solutions to a panel of infosecurity veterans. The goal of Pitch Pit is for the participating companies to get real-world feedback and gauge potential interest in their cybersecurity innovations from potential clients and investors. 

A special twist in 2021 saw the competing cybersecurity startups pit against SMEs, showcasing how “AI is the Next Frontier of Cybersecurity”.

2021 Singapore Cyber Conquest

The 2021 Singapore Cyber Conquest tournament was played on the SANS NetWars Platform, which is a dynamic cyber range catered to allow participants of all skill levels to compete and hone their cybersecurity skills.

NetWars features leading-edge challenges and mimics compelling real-life scenarios. In 2021, teams were taken on a mission where they experienced challenges ranging from forensics to defensive scenarios to penetration testing with a special focus on mobile and Internet of Things security issues. 

The tournament was opened to students of secondary levels and Institutes of Higher Learning in Singapore and ASEAN. Participating teams were fully immersed from the get-go and navigated through various levels where challenges became more complex and interdependent as the storyline progresses.

Winning teams received training and GIAC certification scholarships from SANS Institute valued at over SGD25,000.

A Part of Singapore International Cyber Week 2021

GovWare is proud to be a part of Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) once again. Participants of the GovWare Conference had access to the virtual sessions of SICW 2021.

Organised by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), SICW is Asia-Pacific’s most established cybersecurity event since its inception in 2016. SICW 2021 – the sixth edition - took place from 4 to 8 October 2021, under the theme of “Living with COVID19 – Reimagining digital security risks and opportunities”. SICW 2021 continued the momentum of conversations among top policy makers, industry leaders and domain experts from ASEAN and across the world on key areas of cybersecurity, including emerging digital opportunities and threats, evolution of cyberspace and cybersecurity policies, implementation of cyber norms, Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technology (OT) security, and coordinated cyber capacity-building.
