Johnathan Pineda
Jonathan is the Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), the Philippines’ pension fund for government employees.
With over three decades of expertise in IT, cybersecurity, and data privacy, he has been at the forefront of strengthening GSIS’s digital backbone—modernizing technology, elevating security, and embedding compliance with international standards. Under his leadership, GSIS became the first government agency in the Philippines to achieve ISO 27001:2022 certification, establishing it as a benchmark for other Philippine government agencies. As former Data Protection Officer, he established GSIS’s privacy management program to uphold the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and he continues to champion inter-agency collaboration to bolster national resilience against cyber threats. Jonathan holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and certifications including CISM, CDPSE, and CDPP. He also completed Stanford University’s Advanced Cybersecurity Program.
His career spans leadership roles at Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, KBC Bank, and CTBC Bank, combining international experience with deep local expertise to address today’s most complex cybersecurity challenges.
