Victor Sim

Cybersecurity Consultant, Conny Tech, Council Member, Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES)
Dr Victor Sim is currently a Vice President in the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) that is Singapore’s national society for engineers. He is an active member of the Enterprise Singapore Standards Committee in the Working Group for Cybersecurity for Process Safety, and Working Group for Industrial Water Reuse. He previously specialised as a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) officer through the lenses of the Cybersecurity Act, and Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act. Dr Sim expanded his skill set horizontally into cybersecurity and safety with a cybersecurity master’s degree at the Singapore University Technology and Design (SUTD) with a specific focus in the cyber-physical domain, i.e. safety-oriented cybersecurity and cyber-informed engineering. His study was funded through a dual award from the CSA-iTrust MSSD Scholarship (CiMS) and SkillsFuture Study Award (ICT Sector).
Prior to this, Dr Sim’s has contributed much to the water and environmental domains. Dr Sim‘s doctoral dissertation from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) was awarded twice Best Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2015; American Water Works Association (AWWA) Academic Achievement Award and World Future Foundation PhD Award. Dr Sim was awarded the sole winner of the 2018 inaugural global Young Engineer Award by the UN-recognized World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO). His contributions have been recognized with the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award 2017, Singapore-Netherlands Sustainability Award 2012, and Green Talent 2011.
